Dungaree Nep Denim

The 2×1 Dungaree Nep Denim is a 9.7oz Japanese selvedge denim inspired by vintage dungaree and early workwear fabrics. The term dungaree dates back to the 17th century and originates from Dongri, a port district near Mumbai (formerly Bombay), where a durable cotton fabric called dungri was produced for laborers and sailors. Over time, the name became associated with hard-wearing work garments made from practical, lightweight denim and twill fabrics.

Made from 100% cotton and rope-dyed in indigo, this fabric reflects the lighter, utilitarian denims historically used for workwear, valued for their balance of durability, comfort, and ease of movement.

Its character comes from the unique 2×1 weave construction paired with nep yarns. Together, they create subtle irregularities and surface texture that denim enthusiasts appreciate for their authenticity and visual depth.
